Family Genealogy

One of the more interesting projects we’ve done in a while has to be the genealogy database site for my wife, who has been compiling family genealogy data for the past 10 years or so.
This is not your typical ‘family tree’ – but rather includes some 61,000+ names for ancestors and relatives. We’ve moved her data from a PC-based application into a server-based website, built on the TNG framework. Its all PHP and mySQL, so perfect for integration with some of our other applications and technology.
Now that we have the first draft of the site up and running, with the user interface the way she wanted – her next step is to start adding the photos and scanned documents to the system and creating the links to the individual’s records.
This is going to be one of those long-term projects that we’ll continue to tweak and improve over time.
